Aquatic Programming Update

The decision to defer the closing of the aquatics facility until a thorough review has been conducted was made on March 18, 2010. A Review Task Team has been established which will be co-chaired by the President of the MacEwan Faculty Association and the Vice President, Student Services. The mandate of the Review Task Team will be to review and make recommendations to the President on the aquatic centre, as well as the fitness centre at the City Centre campus. The Task Team will begin their deliberations in early May with the anticipated date of December 2010 for completion of the review and making recommendations.

Until the review is complete, and recommendations approved, the following programs and activities will be offered in the aquatic centre:

      • Academic and curricular programming
      • MacEwan student-focused programming
      • Campus Recreation
      • Designated Public Swims
      • Designated Lane Swims
      • Masters Swim Club
      • Triathlon Program
      • Community Group Rentals (where feasible
      • Birthday Parties (where feasible)

Programs, rentals and lessons which are currently scheduled until the end of June will continue as planned.

The work of the Review Task Team will be posted to a website which will allow individuals to access and be apprised of their progress.

We continue to appreciate your patience and understanding.
