This program is endorsed by Alberta Health Services Weight Wise Initiative

Alberta Health Services has developed standards and criteria through careful research and by talking to experts.  A Community Network Member must meet these standards before becoming part of our Network.  One of their  top concerns is public safety.

For more information, please see the Weight Wise website at www.capitalhealth.ca/weightwise.

Pool Closure

On January 28, 2010, the MacEwan Pool will be closed to the public from 8am to 2pm for a swim meet.

Public swimming will resume from 2-5pm that day.

Sorry for any inconvenience.

Workout and Win Olympic Torch Challenge

Officially starting December 1, 2009 to February 12, 2010, every 10 minutes of exercise in the MacEwan Centre, be it in the gym, on the bikes, in the pool, squash courts or shooting hoops in the gymnasium will equal 1 km towards the relay.

Track your workouts and submit them weekly and we will transform them into Olympic kilometres, remember 10 minutes activity = 1 km. Let's work together to exercise through the entire route and make it to the Vancouver 2010 Olympics on time - opening ceremonies are February 12, 2010.

To sign up, please put your full name and e-mail address on the ballots located at the Access Desk then start submitting your kilometres weekly and submitting them into the ballot box to be tallied (your individual exercise minutes will be recorded and added to the group).

At the end of the relay, we will host a challenge celebration for participants, and give away some great prizes like theatre tickets, restaurant gift certificates, personal training sessions, registered programs and the grand prize of a $2,000 travel voucher from Vacations Plus Travel.

So start tallying up your points and close the gap between us and the torch.
